Pickleball paddle should pay attention to the design of the handle
The pickleball paddle includes multiple components: core, surface, handle, etc. These components together determine the performance of the paddle. Many people think that the surface is the most important, while others think that the core is more important. In fact, in terms of feel, the importance of each component of the racket is ranked as follows:
Handle: directly affects the grip, stability and ball control ability.
Core: affects the elasticity, feel and energy transfer of the racket.
Surface: determines the rotation effect and hitting accuracy.
Coating: mainly affects the appearance and is relatively minor.
Why is the handle so important? Because the handle is the only contact parts between the player and the racket, its comfort directly affects the ball control performance. A suitable handle can improve the stability of the grip, allowing the player to control the racket angle more accurately, thereby improving the quality of the shot.
If the handle feels too soft, it may cause an unstable touch position and affect the ball speed. If it is too hard, it may cause excessive vibration and make it difficult to control the ball.
A handle that is too large or too small can easily cause fatigue in the hands and arms after long-term use.
Most high-end rackets on the market are trying to use various high-tech designs in terms of the core and surface, but they ignore the importance of the handle. Even the most expensive flagship models either use a simple foam structure or a wooden structure, and do not take ergonomics into consideration.
This is why I readjust the handle of each racket to make it better fit the feel, including adjusting the shape of the handle, the grip, the center of gravity, etc. A suitable handle can often allow the racket to perform better.
